The tent and other gear were quick and easy to pack up, and we were under way by 9.30 or so. Another bright day. A felt the weight of Louise’s pack and it seems like almost double mine! She must have legs of steel.

The view! |
The campsite in Alfriston was less welcoming than our first one. No kitchen or kettle, it was bigger and there were noisy people next to us after we’d gone to bed. Fortunately I managed to block them out with AirPods and eye-mask. But was even colder in the night. We walked the short distance into Alfriston for dinner. Well actually, Louise and I didn’t have to walk there - we got a lift in a jeep! The guy, who works at the campsite, thought we wouldn’t be able to get to the deli in time to buy the following day’s lunch so he whisked us there. We bought pasties and apples, and yogurts for breakfast. Beautiful little town. Spoiled for choice, we ended up having a fantastic dinner at a place that specialised in home-made pies. Mine was pork and Bramley apple. Delicious.
