We were up at 6 and away just after 7, taking our farmer-made rolls with us. The sun was quite hot even at 7am, but later on it clouded over which made the heat less intense. Still another very sweaty day though - about 25 degrees and humid.
Beautiful open moorland today, with some orchids and rivers, plenty of sheep and skylarks, and far-reaching views across the hills. Grassy underfoot. Unfortunately blisters forced me to change into my sandals about halfway through - very annoying and a bit concerning, as we still have eight days to go. The hot weather just made my feet swell up too much and then they start rubbing.
We arrived at our campsite (a big caravan park) at about 12.30, before the heat of the day had really kicked in. Arrived totally sweaty and hot. Was really glad of my shower but the water was almost scaldingly hot and couldn’t actually stand under it. Washed clothes and they were dry very quickly what with the sun and a bit of wind.
Now sitting in the campers’ little kitchen, where it’s cooler than outside. Charging up our devices and I’m also taking the opportunity to cool my feet!
It’s pizza night in the caravan park so we’re due to go to a restaurant building called the engine Shed at 7 o’clock for our pre-ordered artisan pizzas. They look very nice on the website.

| Tents completely surrounded. Noisy families everywhere. My idea of a nightmare! |
We did seriously consider whether we should walk a bit further into the late afternoon, but I couldn’t contemplate not having a shower, and we were hot and tired by the time we arrived, despite it being so early. Setting off at 7 was a very good idea, and we may do likewise tomorrow, which is a longer walk than today. For breakfast we are armed with a box of eggs, a tin of beans and a pound coin for the hob!
