Today was a long, hard day. Probably going to be the longest day we do on this trip. Fortunately we set off earlier than usual, just after 8, having awoken to a medley of the sounds of nature - geese honking from the lake, cows mooing, sheep baaing and birds tweeting all over the place. The weather was glorious - mostly sunny but with a cool breeze.

| Unfortunate trouser length |
| Made it onto Kidsty Pike, the highest point of the day |
A punishingly long way back down, and then we walked along the side of Hawkswater for several miles. Rocky paths and it was quite hot.
| Path got easier here |
Then through lots of beautiful riverside full of old oak and alder trees, from Burnbanks onwards. We both thought it was so lovely that we’d come back to do the walk again, when less marchy!

Bit of a rest just after leaving the lake

| Loads of sturdy stiles |
| And trees like this |
| Some sort of daisy-shaped river flowers |
| Quintessential countryside loveliness |
| Want to stop…but a few miles to go |
| Finalement! |
The place where we’re staying is quite nice but it’s chilly tonight and the shower was in the back garden and only tepid. We’ve had a nice time chatting to the other walkers. We’ve all been overtaking each other since Saturday.
Feels cold in the tent and the clothes I washed earlier and hung up to dry are still all sopping wet. Never kind, tomorrow’s going to be hot so I can just festoon them from my rucksack 😆
